04 Jul A Brushless, Cordless 1/2” Impact Wrench Kit from DeWalt
Woodworkers have long known that hardware such as deck bolts, lag screws, barn door slides and other metal elements can be secured faster and better with an impact wrench than a drill/driver. A new XTREME brand 1/2” brushless, cordless impact wrench that has just been added to DeWalt’s popular 12V MAX* battery system certainly seems to fit that need. It delivers 250 foot-pounds of maximum tightening torque, and 400 foot-pounds of breakaway torque, which is more than enough to handle most stubborn fasteners. Plus, cabinet and furniture installers can access tight areas because of its tall, thin, compact design, and then light up dark corners inside cabinets with its LED ring. The DF901 has a glass-filled nylon housing that resists harsh chemicals and solvents, so this tool is designed for tough jobsites.
The anvil is a 1/2″ hog ring driving at 0-3250 IPM, and the tool runs at 0-2850 RPM. It’s 7-3/4” tall without the battery, and it weighs in at 2 lbs.
As far as we can determine, it’s being offered as a kit that includes a 3 Ah battery, a 5 Ah battery, a charger, a belt clip and a bag (DCF901GJ1G1). It is also available as a tool only (DCF901B), and there’s also a 3/8” model (DCF903B).
