21 Dec A Miter Saw with Great Dust Collection
Coming in April, a new 10” sliding miter saw from Sirocco is reportedly going to have 96.5% dust collection efficiency! This is welcome news for woodworkers with allergies or pulmonary disorders, or customers who don’t appreciate fine dust in their homes. The saw has a large adjustable base, a micro-fine miter adjustment knob for precision cuts, and a retractable extension arm for easy storage or for being carried to a job-site. Its cutting capacities are 3 ⅜“ x 11 ¾” at 90 degrees, and 2 ⅛” x 8 ¼” at a compound 45/45 degree setting. Running at 4800 RPM, it comes with a 15 Amp motor, a carbide-tipped blade, a tool-free clamp, and a 3-year limited warranty.
The company currently sells an 8-1/2” table saw that is reported to be 98.5% dustless and runs at 5000 RPM. It has a U.S patented dust collection system for that efficient extraction. The table saw has a 24″ x 19″ surface and a telescoping side table that extends up to 22” on the left. It runs on 110 or 220 power and has a 3.7-gallon dust bag. It has a net weight of just 41.25 lbs. and makes 90-degree cuts up to 2-3/8” deep (1-1/2” at 45 degrees). It comes with a blade, push stick and even replacement carbon brushes. There are two table saw models, the 216W and the 216W-2. The first-generation model 216W was designed with a reflective brushed steel top, while the second-generation 216W-2 was designed with a matte gray top. There are screw divots along the front and back of the black foot bar on the newer 216W-2 model, to allow the saw to be attached to the company’s optional saw stand. The 216W saw has a millimeter scale, while the 216-2 has inches. Both saws come packaged with the same accessories and warranty, and both have the same machine specifications.
Also slated for an April release is the 98.5% dustless 6” multi-function floor saw, which combines two machines in one – it can function like a table saw or a miter saw.
