16 Dec A Quick Clamp Tee-Joint with a Blast Gate
Among Oneida Air System’s recent innovations is the 4″ x 4″ x 4″ Supercell Quick Clamp Gated Tee-Joint Kit (item DMT040404, $139). This lets a woodworker install a T in a 4” dust collector line and then use a magnetic brake to hold the gate open or closed. The kit includes reducer adapters for connecting standard 2.5″ and 1.5″ vacuum hose fittings. It’s designed for use with high-pressure dust collectors such as Oneida’s Supercell system and it simplifies branching from a main duct line to nearby tools. It has rolled ends for connecting to other Quick-Clamp ductwork and tapered, friction fit adapters for reducing to common vacuum hoses.
Molded from high quality, static dissipating resin, the single piece construction eliminates air leaks from seams and welds. There’s an extended flat surface opposite the branch for mounting to the wall (fasteners not included). Note that 90-degree Ts are not recommended for standard, low pressure systems as they create significantly more air resistance. For that, Oneida recommends the gradual split of its standard 45-degree Wye (Y) branches. One should only use this T with high-pressure systems that can accommodate the increased resistance. The included adapters are 2” OD with a 1-3/4” ID, and 2-7/16” OD with a 2-1/4” ID.
Based in Syracuse, New York, Oneida has been helping woodshops handle dust control since 1993 and the company has pretty much everything a shop might need to build a complete system or solve a small problem.
