14 Aug A Saw for Flooring Installers Is on the Way from Ryobi
Coming soon to a store near you, the 18-Volt One+ flooring saw (item PGC21B) combines a 5-1/2″ circular saw with a base to deliver accurate crosscuts and rip cuts in materials such as laminate and hardwood flooring. It runs at up to 6,500 RPM and makes rips up to 8” wide, miters up to 10” and cross cuts up to 15”. The Ryobi website says it has a 3/4” depth of cut and the Home Depot site says 3/8”, but one of the promotional images shows someone cutting ¾” hardwood flooring. The base has a handle for carrying and a built-in clamp to lock boards in place during cuts. There are anti-kickback pawls on the saw and a full see-through blade guard. The battery pops into the top of the saw. The base is wide enough to support most materials and a couple of 2X cut-offs could be used as outriggers to hold up long boards.
Included with the saw are blade wrenches, a push stick, a dust bag, a rip fence, a crosscut and mitering fence, and a clamp. The dust bag can be replaced with a shop vacuum hose (1-1/4”) for better dust collection. Miters and angled cuts are guided by a manually set black steel fence, so the saw is guided by the same large aluminum bar for all cuts and always travels in the same direction. The material rather than the saw is moved to make different cuts. The base has four rubberized feet for stability and the saw can cut up to 240 linear feet when paired with a 9.0 Ah battery (not included).
The saw will only be available at The Home Depot® where we saw it listed at $169. It comes with a 3-year limited warranty and a 24T thin kerf flooring blade. The battery and charger are sold separately.
There are now more than two hundred and twenty-five tools in the ONE+ battery system.
