07 Oct An 18V Compact Cordless 18 Gauge Brad Nailer from Metabo
The new nail gun is available as a kit (item NT1850DF) or as the tool only (NT1850DFQ4). It accepts 5/8” to 2” long 18-gauge brads and can drive 1,650 nails per charge when using the included compact 3.0Ah battery if the kit is purchased. Metabo says the gun is 30% smaller and 31% lighter than the company’s previous model. The nailer allows the user to move around the jobsite without hoses or compressors, and it delivers a driving speed of up to 3 nails per second, saving time and increasing productivity. It can be used for a variety of applications including molding installation, cabinet assembly, wainscoting, chair rail, window and door casings, and decorative trim.
This new gun has a unique air spring drive system that uses compressed air to drive each nail. That results in zero ramp-up time, increased driving speed, and recoil that feels like a pneumatic nailer. There’s a brushless motor, low battery indicator, selective actuation, tool-less jam release to prevent dry firing, tool-less depth adjustment for flush drives into various materials, a variable position belt hook, and an LED light. There’s a side lock switch that prevents accidental firing.
The NT1850DF can accept 18V or MultiVolt batteries from Metabo HPT, for up to 8.0Ah of runtime. It’s covered by Metabo HPT’s Lifetime Lithium-Ion Tool Warranty, 2-year Lithium Ion battery warranty, and 1-year charger warranty. The kit includes a compact 3 Ah 18V battery (339782M), a charger, a no-mar nose cap, a carrying bag and safety glasses. WoodEzine saw it listed with free shipping at $349 at Tools Plus, and $379.99 at ToolBarn.com.
