15 Jul Castle Updates its Pocket Screw Inserter
Castle USA has developed a complete line of highest quality pocket screw machinery that drives screws at a lower angle than the competition to avoid splitting and improve the hold. There are machines for hobbyists and small shops in the Castle line, but medium and larger shops might be interested in a number of updates to the company’s CSI 1.5D Pocket Cutter/Screw Inserter.
The machine now has a newly updated, proprietary Screw Delivery System (SDS). Designed for continuous production manufacturing environments, the CSI was first introduced in 2014. All of the new SDS components have been specifically redesigned to accommodate applications for cabinet and furniture manufacturing. It creates pockets with screws inserted in 1.5 seconds!
The new SDS is even simpler than the original, needing fewer adjustments, and is extremely low maintenance.
Two notable features of the new generation SDS are a redesigned vibratory bowl and a simplified sensor system. It also has redesigned escapement rails, and screw orienting with a simple, effective design for minimizing jams. There’s a new air gate configuration, too, and fixed plates keep the shaker bowl securely in place. New screw feeder tubes feature improved quality and design, and they are narrower and tapered for better screw control as the screws move through to the inserter.
As a joinery solution for woodworking manufacturing, the updated CSI 1.5D reduces production labor needs, specifically for non-value-added labor. It also increases joinery quality, with debris-free joints and reduces the possibility of operator injury and material costs by eliminating misplaced screws. It can provide a 40% labor cost saving at assembly.
The CSI 1.5D with SDS can be seen in Booth 2717 at the AWFS® Fair in Las Vegas from July 20th through the 23rd.
