25 Apr Craftsman Cordless Circular Saw Receives Popular Mechanics Award
Launched about a year ago, the CMCS550B is a 20 Volt , 7-1/4” brushless and cordless circular saw that has been chosen by Popular Mechanics magazine as the recipient of one of its 2021 Tool Awards. The honor “spotlights the year’s best tool and storage solutions delivering reliable performance, quality craftsmanship, and a strong value”. The magazine tests more than 1,000 tools every year.
Craftsman says that the saw delivers up to 75 per cent more power than its brushed circular saw (CMCS500M1) when using the company’s V20* battery (item CMCB204). Its built-in LED worklight Illuminates the cutting line and the worksurface, and the saw can bevel up to 56 degrees with positive stops at 22.5 and 45 degrees. The depth of cut is 2” at 45 degrees and 2-9/16” at ninety degrees. The brushless motor provides 4,700 rpm and maintains speed under load. The saw has a stamped-aluminum shoe and upper metal guard for increased durability. It has received 38 five-star reviews out of 46 on the Craftsman website.WoodEzine found it listed at $129 on the Lowes website today, and $125.31 on Amazon (both tool only, no battery).
