06 Apr Doweled Sliding Shelf Pullouts from Elias Woodwork Fit Most Budgets
When it comes to ordering in drawer boxes, a strict budget doesn’t need to translate into lesser quality. Elias Woodwork has offered a doweled Baltic birch drawer box for some time, and now the company has added a pullout option (as in a sliding shelf, where there is no added decorative face).
With the existing D300 doweled drawer box, the front doesn’t run the full width and the ends of the side walls are visible. But these ends are normally covered with a finished drawer face, which of course leaves the sides looking finished.
The new D301 doweled pullout offers a look where the front does actually run the full width of the box. This option gives a woodworker the choice of an economical pullout, but with a higher quality appearance.
Made from birch plywood, the new D301 drawer box pullout is the perfect combination of economy and quality. By limiting some options, the pullout becomes very affordable. For example, they normally come unassembled to save freight costs, and with that option they already have pre-glued dowels inserted for quick and easy assembly. Fully pre-assembled boxes are also available upon request. Options for the pullouts include 5/8” birch plywood sides with edge banding on the top edge and a ¼” thick plywood bottom that is recessed ½”. These boxes are designed for side mount slides only – undermount notching is not available. Other options such as cutlery, spice and knife block inserts plus branding are available when ordering on the website. The D301 boxes only come with a clear lacquer finish.
