16 Mar Festool Has Updated the TS Plunge Cut Track Saw
Festool’s new version of its famed plunge saw, the TS 55 FEQ-F-Plus, is available without a 55” Guide Rail FS 1400 for $599, or with the 55” Guide Rail FS 1400 for $699. The updated saw also comes with a Saw Blade (HW 160×1,8×20 WD42), a splinter guard, a sight window, a hex key (WAF 5) and a Systainer³ SYS3 M 337. Here’s how Festool describes the new saw: “The TS has always stood out with its absolute precision cuts, maximum power and extreme durability. The usual reliability remains – but the working speed is unprecedented: The TS 55 now saws at up to twice the speed. In addition, the new generation of cutting blades guarantees perfect cutting quality with maximum cutting performance. With accessories, such as guide rails and the angle stop, or sophisticated and proven details, such as the splinter guard and extraction system perfectly matched to the machine, the TS 55 provides excellent work results and a top-class sawing system – for every challenge.”
So, the new saw works up to twice the speed and the new blades last longer. The cut can be virtually splinter-free on both sides thanks to the attachable splinter guard, and the cutting edge at any angle from the normal 90° to a tilted 47° remains unchanged, even when the saw bevels. The tool also has a built-in riving knife for safer work and simple positioning in an existing joint, and it weighs 9.92 lbs. The blade diameter is 6-1/4″, the maximum cut depth is 2-1/8”, and the dust chute attaches to 1-1/16″ to 1-7/16″ hoses.
