28 Apr Five Wood-threading Kits from Woodcraft
These WoodRiver brand kits are for cutting external and internal threads in wood and they are useful for making clamps, jigs, fixtures, knockdown furniture, toys, and novelties. We’re linking to the 1-1/2” kit, and you can just scroll down to the bottom of that linked page to see the other four kits. The thread-box looks like maple, but it’s made of polypropylene with an aluminum insert that is similar to a traditional design with turned handles. Modern technology and metallurgical advances have improved the box and tap. The aluminum insert will minimize wear and extend the tool life. The steel tap is machined to close tolerances and designed to allow easy chip clearance. The resulting wood thread is both tight-fitting and strong. Each kit includes the thread-box, a regular steel tap, and instructions. The available kits are 1/2” x 8 TPI (182235, $55.99); 3/4” x 6 TPI (182236, $60.99); 1” x 6 TPI (182237, $62.99); 1-1/4” x 6 TPI (182238, $64.99); and 1-1/2″ x 6 TPI (182239, $65.99).
