31 Jul Four New Compression Bits from Amana Tool
The new bits are especially well-suited to milling Baltic birch plywood and are equally adept at processing other abrasive materials. Include are a 1/2” shank 3-flute (46710-K), two 3/8” shanks, one of which is two flutes (46702-K) and the other is three (46709-K), and a 1/4” shank two-flute (46701-K). These are all CNC-grade solid carbide Spektra™ Extreme Tool Life coated compression spiral bits. They are made with a unique carbide for longer life, and designed for CNC applications requiring high feed rates and a clean finish. Amana Tool says they deliver “flawless compression cuts”. Spektra bits feature a nACo® nanocomposite coating with an extreme nano-hardness and heat resistance. With its brilliant and distinctively tinted coloring, the nACo coating is a micro-thin ceramic coating which enables the tool’s cutting edge to retain crucial sharpness and lubricity. This provides longevity and produces cutting results of the highest quality. The coating prevents high heat and oxidation, which are detrimental to cutting tool performance. The multi-colored hues, while attractive, will dissipate upon use and yet the coating will remain fully effective. Amana Tool says that nACo offers approximately 4,500 Vickers for impressive solid hardness on cutting areas of the tool, for an increase up to 2-1/2 times compared to uncoated bits.
