31 Jan Grinder Discs for Bowl Carvers and Bear Sculptors
Harbor Freight has added a couple of interesting Bauer™ carving discs to its catalog. These are essentially circular chain saws with an offset plate for mounting in a standard angle grinder that has a 5/8” arbor. Among their many uses, they could be used to cut timber in demolition work, or to hollow out bowls or rough carve figures in stumps. There’s a 4”, 14-tooth heavy duty disc (SKU 58013, $19.99), that has just been added to HB’s existing 4” 22-tooth version (57886, $39.99). Also new is a 3-1/2” 16-tooth disc (SKU 58014, $19.99). The company says that “the Bauer carving disc has aggressive double saw-teeth for rapid wood removal. The carving disc can be used in any direction to sculpt, channel, hollow, and cut curves in wood”. The maximum recommended speed is 14,000 RPM, and Harbor Freight’s policy is that if for any reason a customer isn’t satisfied with this item, they may return it within 90 days for a full refund or replacement.
