18 Feb Hedgehog’s New Offset Push Block
Featherboards.com has taken another step forward in shop safety with the latest addition to its Hedgehog feather-board product line. The new push block (item PB-100, $24) is designed to safely and comfortably allow a woodworker to push material past a table saw blade or router table bit. The handle is offset to the right to increase the distance between a hand and a spinning blade while still delivering solid control of the process. Manufactured of glass fiber-reinforced nylon for stiffness and shatter-resistance, it’s only 3/8” wide for safely making those skinny cuts. There’s a neoprene strip on the bottom for better grip and control, and a 1/4” heel for securely hooking boards. The handle has a ribless grip for better comfort and control. It weighs about half a pound and measures 10” x 2” x 8”.
