02 May Japanese Chisels from Tools for Working Wood
TFWW says that these sets of gorgeous top-quality chisels are made in Japan, and they hold an edge like nobody’s business. They’re being slowly reintroduced as they once again become available. The tools are all made of laminated white steel that is hardened to rc64, and they come with red oak handles. The ferrule and blade are all one piece. Japanese chisels have a thin veneer of fine steel on a softer iron body, which makes them easy to sharpen and able to hold a superb edge. These sets are in a cardboard box for shipping and the 6-piece set includes the following sizes: 6mm (just under 1/4”), 9mm, 12mm, 18mm, 24mm and 30mm (1-3/16”). The 12-piece set contains all the sizes in the 6-piece set with the following additions: 1.5mm, 3mm, 15mm, 21mm, 36mm, and 42mm (about 1-21/32”). Tools for Working Wood also carries a 48mm size (about 1-9/10”) as a separate item for those who want to own the entire range of sizes.
