02 Jan Leuco’s New Fingerjoint Cutters
With a new finger geometry, LEUCO is adding an innovative cutter to its program that can be used with both fiber-containing and fiber-less PU (polyurethane) glue. Previously, the joint required two cutters, and this only needs one. The new tool is ideal for companies that make joints with both PU glues, but also provides advantages for other companies. Machine downtimes will be reduced, and there’s no longer a danger of mixing up the previously different cutters, which will reduce the reject rate. And the optimized geometry now increases the stability of the fingers and significantly minimizes edge splits, which will enhance the output quality.
The new finger geometry is used for cutting joints for glue in knotty softwood. Upgraded tool material and a new coating now provide up to 5 times the edge life, compared to traditional HS finger joint cutters. The high bending strength of the cutting material reduces the risk of tooth breakage while maintaining the same cut quality of standard designs. This is true even at high feed rates, thanks to double the number of teeth compared to the standard design. The benefits of the LEUCO topcoat coating are retained in full after resharpening. The new version is available from stock and other versions are available on request. To achieve optimum strength in finger joints, all influencing factors such as material, glue, machine, or tool must be optimally matched. Click here for the product PDF.
