17 Aug Lockdowel Connectors and SWOOD Software Team Up
Cabinet shops that use Lockdowel fasteners can now build casework in CAD and drop Lockdowel connectors in place in their drawings.
SWOOD by EfiCAD is a design and manufacturing software solution based on Solidworks. It lets a woodshop use libraries that include parts and hardware from various manufacturers, and the company has recently teamed up with Lockdowel to add a new library of connectors. Lockdowel makes unique tool-less fasteners for woodworking projects such as custom cabinets, closets and furniture.
With SWOOD’s integration of Lockdowel fasteners into their library, “manufacturers now can reduce cabinet assembly time on production lines, as well as having the option to provide customers with ready-to-assemble, tool-free cabinets. SWOOD users can select the particular Lockdowel fastener they want to use for a cabinet and the software will automatically create the components in 3D with the appropriate machining for the connectors on all adjoining panels. It will then display a production-ready part for review and CNC processing.”
All of Lockdowel’s E-Clips are now available in the SWOOD Design Connectors library, in versions from SWOOD 2021 onwards. And automatic insertion of the Lockdowel subroutine is available for controller codes and machine interface (e.g., Woodwop for Homag machines). A simple drag and drop on the bottom pocket and side faces of the 3D geometry create the toolpath for this hardware.
