22 May Makita Heater/Cooler Runs on Household, Car or Battery Power
Makita new Cooler/Warmer Box (item DCW180Z) can make a big difference to working conditions on the jobsite, or while traveling to a distant site. The cooler has four cooling modes capable of holding constant temperatures of 15°F, 30°F, 40°F, and 50°F. It also has two warming modes of 130°F and 140°F. It will operate on a single 18V LXT® battery, but also has the option of inserting a second battery for extended run time. The batteries are not included. But what’s especially handy here is that it can also operate from a 12V/24V vehicle plug, or a corded AC power plug. That means drinks can be kept cool all day long, and if a crew has a second unit they can have hot meals, too. There’s a large, easy-to-read LED display that allows a woodworker to check both the temperature and the remaining battery time. And there’s a USB charging port to provide power for phones and tablets. The cooler has a 21-quart capacity and delivers up to 5 hours of continuous run time with two 6 Ah batteries when it is set to zero F, and up to 17 hours when set to 40F. Its compressor type cooler provides greater cooling performance, and its water-resistant construction (IPX4 rated) delivers improved operation in harsh job site conditions. It comes with the wall and car cords, plus a Makita 3-year tool and battery warranty. It measures 24-1/2″ x 13-3/8″ x 14-5/8″ tall and weighs 32 lbs. There’s a built-in light, and the wheel diameter is 3-15/16″.
