20 Jan Makita XSB01 Detail Belt Sander
On January 19th, Makita U.S.A., Inc. in La Mirada, California released a new 18V LXT® brushless, cordless 3/8” x 21” detail sander (XSB01TJ) that’s going to make it a lot easier to reach into some tricky spots. The long neck is ideal for cleaning up hard-to-reach corners, but it can also be used to remove surface blemishes, meld uneven surfaces and perform several pre-finishing tasks both in the woodshop and on the jobsite. The variable belt speed is 1,960 to 5,600 feet per minute and three different arm assembly sizes are available (3/8” is standard and both 1/4” and 1/2” wide are optional). The sanding arm also pivots 160 degrees for compact storage. The large 21″ belt delivers 4-5/16″ of sanding length, and the tool can be connected to dust extractors or vacuums for a cleaner job site. Other features include an electric brake, variable speed control and an LED light that adjusts to the sanding arm angle or the available workspace. The belt sander is available in a kit (XSB01TJ) or as a tool-only version (XSB01Z). The kit includes two 18-volt, 5.0Ah batteries, a rapid charger, abrasive belts and a side handle.
