08 Jul New Door Styles from Conestoga
Earlier this year Conestoga Wood Specialties in East Earl, Pennsylvania introduced the Frame Only option for its Savoy design. Now the company has expanded this option to include its Astoria design. Both the Slab and the Frame Only versions are manufactured from composite core plywood panels and will accept finish in a similar fashion.
The Astoria and Savoy versions of the Frame Only doors have 3” wide vertical grain stiles and rails and doweled construction, with optional horizontal grain. Both are routed to accept glass or other 1/8” thick inserts, and they include grey glass retainer molding to conceal exposed areas of the composite substrate.
Conestoga also notes that shiplap walls and furniture are all the rage in interior design, and it says that shiplap originated over 1,000 years ago for use on Viking ships. In keeping with that history, the company has created the Erikson shiplap design. Available in both solid and plywood panel versions with matching drawer fronts, the Erikson and EriksonPP doors feature horizontal graining. Grooves begin at the midpoint of the panel and repeat every 4” to give that shiplap appearance. With Square Bead framing on the stiles, and the F-557 framing bead on the rails, the Erikson lets woodworkers select from numerous edge profiles and custom framing widths to achieve a custom look.
