New Drivers from Makita in Early 2021

Makita U.S.A., Inc. introduced several new tools at the STAFDA virtual trade show in California on November 9 and 10, and these will hit the stores in early 2021. They may not be on the Makita site yet. The XPH14 is an 18V brushless 1/2” driver-drill in the LXT battery system which the company says is “the most powerful drill in its class, with a full 1,250 in. lbs. of max torque. It sets the benchmark in power, size, and feel with high-torque in a more compact size”. This tool is 14% more compact than Makita’s previous high-torque model, and it has an improved feel with superior balance. Next up (center in photo) is a new subcompact brushless driver-drill, the XFD15ZB. Again part of the 18V LXT battery system, this tool is 8% smaller and has less weight than the previous (XFD11) model. It features reinforced metal gear jampot housing for increased durability, and is also available in a hammer driver-drill (model XPH15ZB). The third tool in the image (center left) is the new XDT18ZB, which is a brushless subcompact impact driver with a zero-wobble chuck with ball-bearing design (it minimizes bit wobble when fastening). It also has an Assist Mode setting that helps eliminate screw cam-out, and cross-threading. With over 275+ products and more on the way, Makita says its LXT is the world’s largest compatible 18 V lithium-ion system.
