17 Oct New Easy Plug Removal Hole Saws from Harbor Freight
Woodworkers have struggled with hole saws for decades, trying to extract jammed plugs after they drill for a lockset or perhaps a round tenon. A new family of inexpensive hole saws from Harbor Freight may help. The Hercules™ Multi-Material carbide hole saws are designed with premium carbide teeth that the company says are “are tougher and longer lasting”, and they make fast cuts in the toughest materials, including wood with nails, fiber cement, plaster board, ceramic tile, wood, brick, block, drywall, and roofing. Harbor freight says they cut faster and last longer than standard bi-metal hole saws, plus they have extra-large carbide teeth for faster cutting in tough materials. Their thick backing plates won’t flex during extreme cuts and the durable enamel finish won’t rust or corrode. The saws work with a Hercules brand 5/16” carbide tipped pilot bit, and we think they will work with any brand 5/16” bit. The saws come in 2-1/8”, 2-3/4”, 3”, 4” and 4-1/4” diameters and are listed from $14.99 to $29.99 each. The carbide-tipped pilot bit is priced at $5.99.
