Festool’s new track saw TSC 55 KEB-F-Basic

New TSC Cordless Track Saw from Festool With Kickback Protection

In January WoodEzine reported on several new Systainer options from Festool. Now the company is about to release the next generation of its fabled track saw. The new tool (TSC 55 KEB-F-Basic) has a unique kickback prevention feature that helps protect the workpiece and minimize the risk of injury to hands when sawing and plunging. Plus, with a new generation of saw blades and the saw’s concentrated torque, a woodworker can work up to twice as fast with an extended battery range. It has a brushless EC-TEC motor and a dual battery system (2 x 18 Volt Lithium-ion).

The anti-kickback feature stops the blade in the blink of an eye, and it can be deactivated if required. Once the saw has been triggered, it is ready for immediate use without having to replace any parts or additional costs.

There are a number of optional accessories available including guide rails, an angle stop, a splinter guard and a saw table. The basic saw offers a low dust working environment thanks to either the dust collection bag (which, unlike many tools actually works well), or an extractor with an automatic Bluetooth® switch.

The saw has a cutting depth of 1-11/16” at 45° and 2-1/8” at 90. It weighs a little over 10 lbs. and operates on 36 Volts. The blade diameter is 6-1/4″ and angles can be set from -1 degree to 47 degrees. The basic saw (tool only with accessories such as the dust bag, blade and Systainer) runs $499. It can be purchased with the two batteries and charger for $699, and if the 55” guide rail is included the kit price is $799.

This saw will be available in June 2021.
