15 Apr Powerful, Very High Tech Grinder Coming Soon from Bosch
Among several new corded and cordless grinders from Bosch is the very high-tech and powerful GWX18V-13CB14. This is a 5”-6” angle grinder that features the company’s X-Lock mount. That’s a grinding wheel changing system that Bosch says is up to five times faster than conventional interfaces. There’s an audible snap when mounting an X-Lock Wheel on an X-Lock grinder. The wheel mounts properly without the need for a wrench or even flange nuts. And the wheel can be released from the grinder with just the pull of a lever.
This tool is part of the Profactor System, which pairs Biturbo technology with a Core18V battery. Biturbo is a high-performance brushless motor and drive-train system that can deliver power that’s comparable to a 13-Amp corded tool. It uses a connectivity module (sold separately) that provides a link to a connected device using the company’s Toolbox app to customize speed selection and mode settings. The grinder includes other advanced electronics such as X-Brake that helps provide a rapid stop of the wheel when the switch is turned off; Electronic Clutch Control that helps shut off the tool if the wheel gets into a bind situation; and restart protection that helps prevent accidental tool startup if the supply of power is interrupted. It also has spiral bevel gears (they provide smooth transmission of power for grinding applications) and a two-position Vibration Control side handle that delivers improved user comfort and control.
The Core18V Profactor Performance battery is compatible with Bosch’s 18V tools and is optimized to drive tools with the Biturbo technology on board. It includes the Bosch exclusive CoolPack 2.0 technology that provides better cooling than the previous-generation CoolPack system. The slide switch has a lock-on function for extended-use applications.
Included in the kit is the grinder, an 8 Amp-hour (Ah) battery, a charger, a wheel guard and a carry-bag. WoodEzine found the GWX18V-13CB14 available for pre-order at Acme Tools, ToolNut and other outlets for $399 with a late April estimated ship date.
