12 Mar Rockler Spring-Loaded One-Handed Bar Clamps
This is simply brilliant!
Instead of ratcheting along at a snail’s pace while pumping the trigger, this clamp snaps closed. The secret is in the large housing around the bar, where a patented concealed spring mechanism closes the jaws with a squeeze of the trigger, leaving your other hand free to position parts! The clamp is available in two sizes, a 6” opening (item 69764, $19.99) and a 10” opening (item 65890, $22.99). Just squeeze the trigger once and the spring mechanism closes the jaws in an instant. Or gently feather the release trigger to ease the jaws shut, which is a great feature when a lighter touch is needed. A woodworker can squeeze the large four-finger trigger for up to 150 lbs. in clamping force, and the clamps have non-marring thermoplastic rubber clamp pads that won’t leave dents. They also have a glass-reinforced nylon clamp body with a steel bar and steel spring cover. This is going to be one of Rockler’s most popular innovations, so it’s no wonder it’s patented (U.S. patent 7,614,617).
