Simple, Inexpensive Dovetail Jig

The new TD330 through dovetail jig from Leigh Industries is quick and simple, and it can be used on the workbench or on the router table (see the inset image in the photo). It lets woodworkers make classic through dovetails on a budget. It has been available for a few months now, and the reviews are solid. We saw it on the company website today (9/14/2020) for $109 US for the kit, which includes the comb, the guide bushing, stops, router bits and a user guide book. The jig lets you make joints in boards up to 12-7/8″ wide, so it’s perfect for drawers and boxes. It’ll make through dovetails in multiple sizes, and on boards of different thicknesses. There’s plenty of info for nervous woodworkers who have been challenged by more complicated jigs – there’s a fully illustrated user guide book, and also an instructional video online. The TD330 is shipped with two 1/2″ shank router bits. The router is guided by a bushing mounted in the router table and you may need an insert ring to fit the eBush to your specific router table, or portable router plate. They need to accept the industry standard 1-3/8″ (35mm) guide bushing (click on the link above to visit the website for more details).
