CB7431-10 kit from Skil

Skil’s New Kit Includes A Light, A Drill and Phone Charging

Coming soon from Skil is a kit (item CB7431-10) that will include three 12-Volt tools – a drill driver, an inflator and a work light. These are based on the company’s PWRCore 12 battery system that offers a couple of very attractive side benefits. A woodworker can charge a phone or tablet from the battery’s USB port in remote locations, and the PWRJUMP™ charger can top up a battery to 25% in just 5 minutes if needed. It charges to 100% in 45 minutes.

Founded in 1926, SKIL Power Tools is based in Naperville, Illinois, and is now a subsidiary of Chervon, which is located in Nanjing, China.

The drill in this new kit has a 1/2” chuck has a digital brushless motor that provides compact, lightweight power. It has no load speed ranges of 0-450 and 0-1700rpm and a variable speed trigger switch, and it delivers 350 inch-pounds of torque.

The compact and lightweight inflator isn’t exactly a common tool for woodshops to have, but it could be handy. It has a digital pressure gauge up to 160 PSI, a high-pressure mode, and an automatic shutoff feature for hands-free inflating.

The LED area light has two brightness settings and offers 120-degree pivoting so it can be aimed accurately for detail work, such as inside cabinets or during installations in new construction where adequate lighting isn’t available.

The website says that the new kit includes two 2.0Ah Lithium-ion batteries (although the same page also says one, so check before you buy), the charger, a #2 Phillips bit, a belt clip, a Presta valve adapter, a sports ball needle and a pinch valve adaptor.

This kit is aimed more at hobbyists than professionals. For some info on pro grade tools from Skil, click here.
