In a sign that the world will carry on, the Stairbuilders and Manufacturers Association (SMA) and the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) will present Stair Balustrade, an instructional class that is focused on teaching post-to-post and over-the-post handrail installation theory and skills. The event will take place at the National Wood Flooring Association’s training facility in Chesterfield, Missouri and spans three days from Monday, September 28th through Wednesday the 30th, 2020. The facility is about 30 minutes from the Saint Louis airport, and a block of hotel rooms has been reserved with the Hampton Inn (636-530-0770) at $92 per night plus applicable fees and taxes. That price includes WiFi, breakfast and a shuttle to and from the facility.¬† The room block will close Friday, September 14, 2020. Use group code STW to book your reservation.¬†This is a hands-on class that will cover balustrade theory with calculations and layout; newel, baluster and handrail placement; over-the-post and post-to-post techniques; cable, iron and wood infill systems; and radius level balustrade layouts.
