03 Sep The PH06 Is an Ultra-compact 3/8” Hammer Drill from Makita
A new 12V max CXT hammer driver-drill from Makita (model PH06) offers woodworkers a small but powerful solution when drilling, driving or fastening in tight spaces. It delivers 250 inch-pounds of torque and comes as a kit (PH06R1) or as the tool only (PH06Z).
The drill has variable speed with ranges from 0 to 450 RPM and 0 to 1,700 RPM. For the hammer action, the two ranges are 0 to 6,750 and 0 to 25,500 blows per minute (BPM). It weighs only 2.5 lbs. with a 2.0Ah battery installed.
The company says that its CXT system “provides the utmost compact solution with superior comfort and capacity. The superior ergonomics allow easy handling. The slide-style battery design offers improved balance and lets tools stand up.”
The batteries have an on-board charge level indicator. There’s also an LED light, an ergonomically designed handle with a rubberized soft grip, and a compact and ergonomic design at only 7-5/8″ long. The drill has a 3/8″ keyless chuck for quick bit changes, and a Battery Protection Circuit that protects against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating. This tool only uses the slide-in batteries: it’s not compatible with 12V max pod-style batteries and chargers. The kit version comes with two 12V max CXT® Lithium-Ion batteries, a charger, and a tool case, and there’s a 3-year limited warranty on the tool, the battery and the charger.
