17 Apr The Rip-Flip is a Clever Flip-up Stop from Woodpeckers
The new Rip-Flip is a fence stop system for SawStop and Powermatic table saws that’s all about delivering repeatable accuracy at a reasonable price. It’s an ideal upgrade for woodworkers who make cabinet doors, drawer fronts and other repetitive parts, and the system could be adapted for other saws and different types of machines.
To use a Rip-Flip stop, just flip it up and then slide the fence until it contacts the brass tip of the stop. Large knurled brass knobs and thumbwheels make it easy to do fine adjustments. The stops are symmetrical, so they can be installed to contact the left side of the fence or the right.
A shop can combine two stops to produce perfect fitting dadoes without the hassle of repeated trial-and-error attempts to get just the right combination of chippers and shims. Simply assemble a dado stack to at least half the width of your finished dado and, with a few turns of the micro-adjuster, make a perfect cut in two passes.
Once a dado is dialed in for a perfect fit, the coupled stops can then be repositioned anywhere along the rail and the dado will remain exactly the same width without ever readjusting anything. Think about fitting multiple shelves in a cabinet. Just slide the fence and the coupled pair of stops to wherever you want a shelf and the dado width is perfect and automatic.
At this time, the Rip-Flip is only compatible with SawStop™ saws that are equipped with a 36” or 52” T-Glide fence, or with Powermatic™ brand saws that have a 30” or 50” Accu-Fence. Systems for other brands of saws and other fences will be announced as they become available. Integrating the Rip-Flip System with a table saw takes just a few minutes. It won’t affect the alignment of the rip fence rail and doesn’t require removing any original parts. All Rip-Flip systems come with mounting brackets and hardware, anodized aluminum track, two Rip-Flip Stops and one dado Coupling Pin. The Powermatic models include adapters for both styles of the Accu-Fence. Additional Flip Stops and Coupling Pins are also available separately and Woodpeckers offer a pair of Flip Stops complete with a Coupling Pin.
The Rip-Flip is precisely machined in Strongsville, Ohio.
