18 Nov WEN 12-1/2” Two-Blade Benchtop Thickness Planer
The new WEN planer (item PL1252, $336.31) has a powerful 15-amp motor that provides up to 20,000 cuts per minute at a 26 feet per minute (FPM) feed rate. Just at home on the jobsite as it is in the shop, it lets a woodworker plane boards up to 12-1/2” wide and 6” thick. The handy depth adjustment knob allows passes anywhere from 0 to 1/8”. A 2” dust port removes chips and sawdust and top-side rollers let boards be fed back through the system quickly. The machine also includes height-adjustable infeed and outfeed tables, which can reduce or limit snipe while providing extra support to a work-piece during planing.
Weighing 55.6 lbs. and measuring just 22” by 23-1/2” by 18-1/4” tall, it has a 20” by 12-1/2” footprint. That makes it easy to move around the shop or the jobsite using onboard rubber-grip handles. For stationary use, pre-drilled base holes make it easy to mount the planer to a bench or stand, such as the WEN MSA658 ($169.97, sold separately).
The PL1252 comes with highly rated customer support, a stocked inventory of replacement parts, and a two-year warranty. Included are two reversible 12-1/2” SK5 blades (model BP122K).
